Development of Low-cost/ Open-source Instrumentation

Mikhail Trought  ’16 (Chemistry)

Senior Experience

This project included the design, construction, and deployment of an Arduino based air quality instrument that measures carbon dioxide, particle counts, temperature, and relative humidity. This sensor was deployed on ARTEMIS during the 2015 field campaign. During the campaign, we found a small problem with the dust sensor; however, ‘lil APOLLO did provide data on temperature, relative humidity, and carbon dioxide levels. After the field campaign, the problems with the dust sensor were resolved and data was obtained throughout Appleton.
